ChemCon Europe 2016 - Amsterdam

Partners of ChemCon Europe 2016:

Summary

ChemCon Europe 2016, our 20th anniversary, took place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands from March 14th to 18th. More than 380 experts from 31 countries representing more than 200 companies, authorities and associations have attended the conference and contributed to the exchange of experiences and discussion about regulatory affairs around the globe.

The week started with an extensive Monday program with a workshop on the essentials steps for REACH registration for SME’s, a Legal counsels Forum on Legal issues beyond regulatory requirements and two in-depth pre-conference seminars respectively on REACH IT tools and on Managing business impact in the global supply chain of key regulations with stakeholders.

During the rest of the week a great variety of aspects of international chemical control legislation around the globe was discussed during the conferences sessions. Hands on topics related to European REACH procedures (e.g. authorisation), Chinese, Korean, Thai and Taiwanese regulations as well as Turkey, Russian and Canadian updates were of high relevance to the audience. Up-to-date information on current and emerging chemical control legislation in the Asia-Pacific (e.g. Japan, Australia and New Zealand), The Americas (e.g. USA, Canada, Mexico and Brazil), and Europe (eg EU, Russia and Turkey) were highlighted and discussed. As always practical advice and lessons learned by industry were well received, since they show how to act within the legal frameworks set.

Many countries from Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas were spotlighted in detail and furthermore there was a focus on topics like GHS, global notification, endocrine disruptors, biocides, nanomaterials and food contact as well as potential approaches for a more sustainable future of the chemical industry. Also downstream user requirements and experiences were shared.
